Administrative Recommendation:
City Council award Small Works Contract 03-03, Project Number C304A, `K' Street SE Storm
Improvements, to Scotty's General Construction on their low bid of $249,858.00 plus WA state sales tax
of $21,987.50 for a total contract price of $271,845.50.
Background Summary:
The purpose of this project is to eliminate the existing ongoing flooding located along `K' Street SE near
the entrance to Olympic Middle School. Excess surface water flows, incapable of flowing northerly
through the undersized conveyance system, cause localized flooding, which disrupts traffic and school
operations. This project will construct a new 18 -inch storm line from 18th Street SE to 21St Street SE,
allowing the conveyance of the sub -basin area of 30 acres to the 21St Street SE trunk line.
Construction has been and will continue to be coordinated with Olympic Junior High and is expected to
begin at the end of September and be completed by November.
A project budget contingency of $50,562 remains in the 432 Storm fund.
