Administrative Recommendation:
City Council accept Equipment Bid from Northwest Playground Equipment, Inc. in the amount of
$50,960.00, including Washington State sales tax, for Terminal Park improvements.
Background Summary:
As part of the Terminal Park Neighborhood Plan, the Parks Department was allocated $120,000 to make
park improvements and to build a playground in the park for neighboring children. The Department
issued a Request for Proposals for playground equipment and received five proposals.
A review of the park playground submittals took place on Friday, September 26, 2003 by parks staff. A
score sheet was distributed with criteria for selection based on a point system giving points for "play
opportunities", "quality and size", "uniqueness", "overall quality of manufactured equipment", and
"presentation". The scoring was totaled and staff agreed that the installation of equipment proposed by
Northwest Playground Equipment, Inc. would best suit this location. (Scoring selection was (1) Northwest
Playground, (2) Sitelines Park and Playground Products, (3) Little Tikes Commercial Playscapes
Northwest. The project will be installed by community groups as directed by City staff.
Staff requests that Council approves the purchase of equipment as quoted.
