Background Summary: In the 2003 budget money was programmed for the renovations of the first floor bathrooms in City Hall to make them ADA compliant. The architects estimate was close to $40,000.00 which was significantly over the amount that was set aside. The issue was brought to the Municipal Services Committee and City Council and it was decided to move forward. In addition to restroom remodel at city hall there was $8000.00 set aside to put a ceiling in the main stairwell as well as new sheet rock and paint in conference room 2. We will also refinish the handrails in the stairwell and the handrail in the balcony. The city hall part of the contract amounts to $41,400.00, not including sales tax. The Fire Department also budgeted for some repair work at fire station no.31. This work will consist of creating another access to a public restroom; repairs to the interior of the restrooms, wall construction, new half door wall at entrance, as well as replace about 2700 square feet of carpeting. This part of the contract is $21,800.00, not including sales tax. This project is with in the 2003 budget for each portion of work and the authorized contract contingency is $3,438.
