Background Summary: The 1931 Model "A" fire truck was originally purchased by the Port Orchard Fire Department. When World War II broke out, the vehicle was diverted for use at the nearby Navy base and outfitted with a small portable pump. The truck was surplused after the war and subsequently purchased by the Old Soldier's Home in Orting. After many years of neglect, the vehicle was sold to the Auburn Volunteer Firefighters Association for $1. Auburn firefighters restored the vehicle to its original condition and it has been used in parades, funerals and public relation events. Ownership was signed over to the City in the seventies. Auburn recently re-acquired its first original fire truck, a 1938 Pirsch Fire Engine, and would like to refurbish it to its original condition for public relations events F0409-1 F4.6.1 Reviewed by Council & Committees: Reviewed by Departments & Divisions: [] Arts Commission COUNCIL COMMITTEES: [] Building [] M&O [] Airport [] Finance [] Cemetery [] Mayor [] Hearing Examiner [] Municipal Serv.
