Administrative Recommendation:
City Council approve Change Order #1 in the amount of $11 ,360 to Contract 04-04 with R.W. Rhine, Inc.
for work on Proiect No. C321A, 2004 House Demolition.
Backaround Summary:
The project originally entailed removal of asbestos-containing material and demolition of four houses and
associated outbuildings located on City properties within Auburn. Three of the properties are owned by
the General Fund and managed by the Planning Department, and the fourth is owned and managed by
the Storm Drainage Utility.
Change Order #1 adds, to the project scope of work, the demolition of the Litowitz residence and
outbuildings at 329 Western St NW, which was recently purchased by the Storm Drainage Utility. This
additional house demolition will be paid from Storm Drainage Utility funds.
A project budget contingency of $90,153 remains in the 328 fund. Funds required for the Storm Drainage
Utility portion of this project ($37,976) are available within the 432 Storm Fund since Comprehensive Plan
Project BC-14 (conveyance improvement on 21st Street SE from K Street to R Street SE, and R Street
SE from 21st to 25th Street SE), with a budget of $1,300,000, will not be constructed this year.
