Administrative Recommendation:
City Council authorize the Mayor to award Contract 04-17, Project No. C326A, C Street SW Roadway
Improvements - Contract A, to the lowest responsible bidder.
Backqround Summary:
Contract A for the C Street SW Roadway Improvement project consists of constructing approximately
3,500 linear feet of roadway improvements beginning at Ellingson Road and extending northward along
the Safeway, Inc. property. The roadway will be widened to provide two travel lanes in the southbound
direction, one in the northbound direction, a northbound left turn lane and one signalized intersection for
Safeway's truck access.
This first phase of the C Street SW project has an estimated construction cost of $1,600,000, a
construction contingency of $160,000, and an estimated construction time frame of 6 months. In order to
gain a time advantage to meet the commitment to Safeway of substantial completion by April 1 , 2005,
staff is requesting authorization for the Mayor to award Contract 04-17 for Contract A of the C Street SW
project.
