City Council grant permission to advertise for bids for Project No. C423A, City Hall Improvements.
Background Summary:
The 2004 Building Maintenance budget provided funds for a few projects within City Hall. These projects
included insulated film for the atrium windows, as well as paint the metal frames of the atrium; updating of
the second floor restrooms; replacing the carpet in the employee's lunchroom with vinyl tiles; replacing
the lights and providing a ceiling grid in the Council Chambers.
With the opening of the Justice Center, the evidence room moved to the new facility. This vacated area
will be used by the jail for additional storage, provide for a couple of interview rooms, a bail room and an
office for the jail supervisor. This expansion will also allow for the storage of the personal belongings of
the inmates transferred to Yakima. This storage is currently provided for in a room next to the print shop.
This room will be converted into an office function for the Information Services Department. Funds have
been transferred into the maintenance budget for the jail expansion.
The construction project is estimated at $171,000.
