City Council grant permission to enter into Amendment #1 to Consultant Agreement No. AG -C-231 with
Parametrix for Engineering Services for Project No. C9056, Auburn Way South Sewer Replacement.
Background Summary:
This project will construct the replacement of the sanitary sewer system from the City limits on Auburn
Way South to the intersection of 17`h Street SE and K Street SE. This project is a combined effort
between the City and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, each paying 50% of the costs associated with the
design and construction of the Auburn Way South sanitary sewer replacement.
Parametrix has been selected as the consultant to complete the design of this project. The project will be
broken up into 4 sections that will be bid independently for construction.
Amendment #1 to the Consultant Agreement includes the necessary work to assemble and generate
additional background information through additional survey and plan preparation resulting from changes
in the original plans completed by CTE Engineers, Inc. for a portion of the sewer replacement. This
portion of the sewer replacement has been upsized due to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe's request for
increased capacity and relocated due to conflicts with existing utilities. In addition, the necessary work to
resolve storm water problems impacting Sherwood Gardens Apartments and a design of the Academy
Water Service Area Rezone have been added to the scope due to their proximity to the proposed sewer
project. The amount of this amendment is $56,847. Of this amount, $41,733 is associated with the
sanitary sewer replacement and $15,114 is associated with the storm and water improvements. The total
consultant cost for design engineering for the project, including this amendment, is $655,307.
The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe shall not be requested to contribute any funds toward the design and the
construction of the water and the storm improvements noted above.
