Background Summary: The scope of work for Phase 1A of this project is to construct ITS improvements along Auburn Way South and improvements at the City Maintenance and Operations facility to accommodate an interim Traffic Management Center. Improvements will consist of the installation of fiber optic cable, traffic cameras, central control software and the addition of space at the maintenance and operations facility to accommodate a Traffic Management Center. To facilitate the completion of the ITS system in advance of the June Concert Season at the MIT amphitheater, staff is requesting the City Council authorize the Mayor to award the remaining IT Procurement Contracts, not to exceed $200,000 and the Construction Contract, not to exceed $800,000, associated with Project Number C307A, Phase 1A— Citywide ITS Improvements based on the best proposal (IT procurement) and to the lowest responsible bidder (Construction contract). The authorization is for awarding of contracts only, and does not include contract amendments and construction change orders. Staff will update the Public Works Committee and Finance Committee of the Council upon the award of each such contract by the Mayor.
