Background Summary: In May 2005 the City of Auburn accepted an "Application for Annexation" from Steve Nichols (32516 58th Avenue South) for two parcels that he owns which is located adjacent to the west boundary of the city limits up on West Hill. The parcels (Parcel #9262800210 and Parcel #9262800280) are each approximately 4.5 acres. The total area of the annexation is nine acres. Mr. Nichols currently resides on one of the parcels. He plans to subdivide the property. City staff prepared the annexation petition. In June 2005 City received the signed petition back from Mr. Nichols. On June 14th the King County Assessor certified the petition was sufficient to meet the statutory requirements for the 60% petition method of annexation. City staff request the Council consider the proposed annexation and call for a public hearing. The subject of the public hearing will be to authorize staff to submit the required "Notice of Intent" to the King County Boundary Review Board. If the Boundary Review Board approves the annexation, an ordinance will be prepared to adopt it.
