Background Summary: In May 2005 the City of Auburn accepted an "Application for Annexation" from Steve Nichols (32516 58th Avenue South) for two parcels that he owns which is located adjacent to the west boundary of the city limits up on West Hill. The parcels (Parcel #9262800210 and Parcel #9262800280) are each approximately 4.5 acres. The total area of the annexation is nine acres. Mr. Nichols currently resides on one of the parcels. He plans to subdivide the property. City staff prepared the annexation petition. In June 2005 City received the signed petition back from Mr. Nichols. On June 14th the King County Assessor certified the petition was sufficient to meet the statutory requirements for the 60% petition method of annexation. City staff request the Council conduct a public hearing. The subject of the public hearing will be to authorize staff to submit the required "Notice of Intent" to the King County Boundary Review Board. If the Boundary Review Board approves the annexation, an ordinance will be prepared to adopt it. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. City Staff is hereby instructed to file the Notice of Intention to Annex with the King County Boundary Review Board. Section 2. The City of Auburn hereby requests the King County Boundary Review Board to approve the annexation of two parcels of land with an area of approximately nine acres located in King County adjacent to the City's western boundary, legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto. Section 3. The City Council finds that the annexation is consistent with the City of Auburn's goals and policies related to annexations as enumerated in Chapter 13 of the City's Comprehensive Plan. Section 4. The City Council further finds that the annexation is consistent with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of the City for orderly and controlled growth, and accomplishes the purposes and objectives specified in RCW 36.93.010 based on the facts herein. Section 5.
