Background Summary:
Resolution No. 3905 authorizes the Mayor to award Contract 05-12, Project C506A, Downtown Alley
Undergrounding to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. This project will complete the trenching
and restoration work required to complete the undergrounding of Puget Sound Energy power and other
telecommunications systems in the alley located south of Main Street and between A Street SW and A
Street SE.
This project is scheduled to receive bids the week of September 12'" and due to the coordination of the
work with recent downtown development, there is a desire to have this work begin as soon as possible.
The contract is estimated at $40,000.00 and $20,000 is budgeted from the 001 General fund and $20,000
from Developer contribution.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
AWARD CONTRACT 05-12, C506A - DOWNTOWN ALLEY
UNDERGROUNDING TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE AND
RESPONSIVE BIDDER
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn is engaged in various municipal functions,
including economic development services; and
WHEREAS, ACC 3.12.034 requires the City Council to award small works
projects in excess of $25,000; and
WHEREAS, Contract 05-12, is estimated to exceed $25,000; and
WHEREAS, the City's Downtown Plan, adopted in 1998, calls for making
infrastructure investments to facilitate development activity in the downtown
area ; and
WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with Auburn Ace
Holdings, LLC for the participation in the undergrounding of overhead power to
be completed by this project; and
WHEREAS, in order to provide for such services, it is appropriate: that the
City complete the undergrounding of power facilities in an expeditious manner;
and

WHEREAS, in order to provide for those services, the City will solicit for
competitive bids through the small works roster process as identified in state
law and ACC 3.12.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to award contract: 05-12 to
the lowest responsible and responsive bidder.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of
this legislation.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force
upon passage and signatures hereon.
