NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 2.51.020, entitled "Councilmember's compensation," is amended to read as follows: Ordinance No. 5953 October 13, 2005 Page 1 OPTION ONE 2.51.020 Council member's compensation. A. On and after January 1, 2002, for those council members elected or appointed after February 14, 2001, the effective date of Ordinance 5503, their monthly salary shall be increased from $675.00 per month to $800.00 per month, and on and after January 1 2006 for those council members elected to or appointed for terms commencinq after January 1 2006 their monthly salary shall be set at $900.00 per month and health benefits which are available to unaffiliated city employees will be extended to the council members on or after January 1, 2002, if such benefits are available to council members. Council members shall pay the full cost of such insurance. The council member selected as mayor pro tem on or after January 1, 28042006, shall have his/her monthly salary set at $1;2881,300.00 per month. B. The compensation provided for in this section shall be paid on the eighth and twenty-third day of each month succeeding the month in which services are performed, by proper warrants drawn upon the finance director of the city. Should the payday fall on the weekend or holiday, paychecks will be issued on the previous workday. On and after January 1, 2002, for those council members elected or appointed after February 14, 2001, the effective date of Ordinance 5503, their monthly salary shall be increased from $675.00 per month to $800.00 per month, and on and after January 1 2006 for those council members elected to or appointed for terms commencing after January 1 2006 their monthly salary shall be set at $975.00 per month and health benefits which are available to unaffiliated city employees will be extended to the council members on or after January 1, 2002, if such benefits are available to council members. Council members shall pay the full cost of such insurance. The council member selected as mayor pro tem on or after January 1, 28942006, shall have his/her monthly salary set at $44881,375.00 per month. B. The compensation provided for in this section shall be paid on the eighth and twenty-third day of each month succeeding the month in which services are performed, by proper warrants drawn upon the finance director of the city. On and after January 1, 2002, for those council members elected or appointed after February 14, 2001, the effective date of Ordinance 5503, their monthly Ordinance No. 5953 October 13, 2005 Page 2 salary shall be increased from $675.00 per month to $800.00 per month, and on and after January 1 2006, for those council members elected to or appointed for terms commencing after January 1 2006, their monthly salary shall be set at $900.00 per month and health benefits which are available to unaffiliated city employees will be extended to the council members on or after January 1, 2002, if such benefits are available to council members. Council members shall pay the full cost of such insurance. The council member selected as mayor pro tem on or after January 1, 28042006, shall have his/her monthly salary set at $x;2881,300.00 per month. Council members and the Mayor Pro Tem shall also be paid the sum of $50.00 for each outside meeting which they attend on behalf of the City, up to five meetings per month. For the purposes hereof, such outside meetings include regularly scheduled meetings of regional municipal or intergovernmental committees boards or commissions to which the individual council member or the Mayor Pro Tem has been formally appointed by the Mavor or the Citv Council. where those meetinas occur outside of the corporate B. For the purposes hereof, such outside meetings include regularly scheduled meetings of regional municipal or intergovernmental committees boards or commissions to which the individual council member or the Mayor Pro Tem has been formally appointed by the Mayor or the City Council where those meetings occur outside of the corporate limits of the City. B. The compensation provided for in this section shall be paid on the eighth and twenty-third day of each month succeeding the month in which services are performed, by proper warrants drawn upon the finance director of the city. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3. SEVERABILITY. If any provision of this Ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the Ordinance or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected. Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five (5) days from and after its passage and publication as required by law, and on January 1, 2006.
