Background Summary: The City of Auburn owns an existing parcel of property (Auburndale Park) which is located south of the BPA power lines between 116th and 118th Avenues SE. The property is currently vacant and the future use will be for park purposes. The property is currently in the unincorporated Lea Hill area of King County. Pursuant to RCW 35A.14.300 the City may annex city owned property for municipal purposes whether the property is adjacent to the City Limits or not. The property should be annexed which would allow for the City's police to respond to any issues as well as any future permitting would be through the City as opposed to King County. After the adoption of this ordinance the next step will be the preparation of a "notice of intention" to annex which will be forwarded to the King County Boundary Review Board for their review. The PCD Committee reviewed the proposal on January 9, 2006 and recommended approval.
