Ordinance No. 5981, vicinity ma
Administrative Recommendation:
City Council introduce and adopt Ordinance No. 5981.
Background Summary:
The City of Auburn owns an existing parcel of property which is located on the south side of the cemetery.
The property was given to the City by King County a few years ago. It is steep and the future use will
likely be for open space purposes related to the cemetery or View Point Park. The property is currently in
the unincorporated area of King County.
Pursuant to RCW 35A.14.300 the City may annex city owned property for municipal purposes whether
the property is adjacent to the City Limits or not.
The property should be annexed which would allow for the City's police to respond to any issues as well
as any future permitting would be through the City as opposed to King County.
After the adoption of this ordinance the next step will be the preparation of a "notice of intention" to annex
which will be forwarded to the King County Boundary Review Board for their review.
The PCD Committee reviewed the proposal on January 9, 2006 and recommended approval.
