Background Summary: The City was awarded an FHWA Intersection & Corridor Safety Program grant administered through the Washington State Department of Transportation in the amount of $250,000 to finance the design and construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of R Street NE and 8th Street NE. This grant does not require a match. The signal is warranted due to the traffic volumes on R Street NE and 8th Street NE and will increase the safety of this intersection by helping to mitigate a number of collision types. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept an FHWA grant administered through WSDOT for $250,000 to design and construct a traffic signal at the intersection of R Street NE and 8th Street NE. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such other administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
