Background Summary: The Auburn Golf Course provides golf cars to many of our customers for a fee. On average, over 25% of our golfers choose to rent a cart. It is estimated that cart rental fees will generate in excess of $150,000 per 12-month period. As the City of Auburn will be assuming all aspects of golf operations this year, it is necessary to enter into a lease agreement for the use of Electric Golf Carts, which will be stored under our new facility. It is recommended that the City of Auburn enter into a lease agreement with Thermo King Northwest for our carts. We have done extensive research on golf carts, including interviewing area Golf Course Superintendents, testing the carts at our golf course as well as visiting the local trade exposition in an effort to compare products. (Copies of comparisons are attached.) We have sought to enter into an agreement for carts that would meet the following criteria: 48-Volt Electric Motor with four 12-volt batteries Tinted windshields Club Protectors Brake and throttle pedals protected by the Debris Shield protection system Surlyn reflections molded in color body 360-degree bumper protection Ladder-style aluminum box frame that's strong and lightweight 4-Year Warranty Canopy drainage system with built-in drain spouts Ergo composite seats with lumbar support Dash storage over 1700 cubic inches "A: plate independent front suspension with better turning radius R-0116-3 04.4.7 Reviewed by Council & Committees: Reviewed by Departments 8~ Divisions: ^ Arts Commission COUNCIL COMMITTEES: ^ Building ^ M&O ^ Airport ®Finance ^ Cemetery ^ Mayor ^ Hearing Examiner ®Municipal Serv. ^Finance ^ Parks ^ Human Services ^ Planning & CD ^ Fire ^ Planning ^ Park Board ^Public Works ^ Legal ^ Police ^ Planning Comm. ^ Other ^Public Works ^ Human Resources Action: Committee Approval: ^Yes ^No Council Approval: ^Yes ^No Call for Public Hearing _/_/_ Referred to Until _/_/_ Tabled Until _/_/_ Councilmember: Norman Staff: Faber Meetin Date: Januar 16, 2007 Item Number: VIII.B.8 A~$~~~ MC71ZE THAN YC7U [MAC,INED Agenda Subject Lease of Golf Carts for Auburn Golf Course Date: January 4, 2007 __ The Parks, Arts and Recreation Department received three quotes for a proposed four-year lease of up to 54 golf carts. Thermo King Northwest in Kent carries the Club Car Precedent.. After comparing the specifications, Staff request permission to enter into a lease agreement with Thermo King Northwest for the carts.
