Installation, to Apply A Line on their low bid of $32,445.00.
Background Summary:
The Qwick Kurb Installation project is to install raised separator systems along the centerline of the
roadway near the `at grade' BNSF crossing on West Main Street, 3rd Street NW, and 37th Street NW.
This project was originally estimated at $20,000. The original estimate incorrectly accounted for the labor
necessary to install these systems. The City received a grant from the Washington Utilities and
Transportation Commission (WUTC) in the amount of $20,000 with no required match.
The original agreement with the WUTC was to complete the work prior to January 31, 2007. They have
provided the City with an extension until March 31, 2007. They cannot provide the additional funds
needed to complete the project.
If the City chooses to move forward with the project, it will need to fund the $16,000 shortfall from the 102
Fund. A budget amendment will not be necessary; this could be funded through the Roadway Safety
Infrastructure Improvements ($200,000 budgeted in 2007).
