Background Summary:
Resolution No. 4211 authorizes the Mayor to accept $12,000 in grant funds from the Washington Traffic
Safety Commission for purchase of flashing beacons in school zones.
The City applied for and was granted a Washington Traffic Safety Commission grant in the amount of
$12,000 to purchase four (two sets) flashing beacons to be installed on Lakeland Hills Way in the
Lakeland Hills Elementary School zone and on 10th Street SE in the Terminal Park Elementary School
zone. The flashing beacons will be installed before the start of the 2007-2008 school year.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE WASHINGTON TRAFFIC
SAFETY COMMISSION FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR
FLASHING BEACONS TO BE INSTALLED IN TWO SCHOOL '
ZONES IN AUBURN
WHEREAS, the City desires to install flashing beacons to alert drivers upon
entering a school zone in certain targeted school zones; and
WHEREAS, the City applied for and was granted a Washington Traffic Safety
Commission Grant in the amount of $12,000 to purchase four (two sets) flashing
beacons to be installed on Lakeland Hills Way in the Lakeland Hills Elementary School
zone and on 10th Street SE in the Terminal Park Elementary School zone; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to use grant monies to finance
traffic safety improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept the Washington Traffic
Safety Commission grant for $12,000, available on a reimbursement basis for the
purchase of four (two sets) flashing beacons to be installed on Lakeland Hills Way in the
Lakeland Hills Elementary School zone and on 10th Street SE in the Terminal Park
Elementary School zone.
Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon
passage and signatures hereon.
