Administrative Recommendation:
City Council adopt Resolution No. 4223.
Background Summary:
Resolution No. 4223 expresses City Council support for the Regional Transportation Investment District
"Roads and Transit Plan" on the November 2007 ballot. State law, specifically RCW 42.17.130, allows
the City Council to take a position on a ballot measure if taken in an open meeting at which members of
the public are entitled to express opposing views. With that intent, the City Council may very well want to
support the ballot measure as it would bring to the Auburn area transportation dollars to improve roads in
and around the City of Auburn. Because of the past deficiencies under state law to fund road
improvements, many roads have fallen into a state of need with respect to their maintenance. This ballot
measure would assist King County and surrounding counties to address those transportation
improvement needs.
