City Council award of Small Works Contract 07-18, Project Number CP0732, 2007 Citywide Manhole
Ring & Cover Replacement, to GMT Inc. on their low bid of $157,315.00 plus WA state sales tax of
$14,001.04 for a total contract price of $171,316.04.
Background Summary:
The purpose of the project is to repair damaged roadway around sanitary sewer and storm drain
manholes and replace manhole rings and covers throughout the City, as identified by City Staff.
Approximately 65 structures are included in the project, including 15 storm structures and 3 sewer
structures within 29~h Street SE, between A Street SE and R Street SE.
The Engineer's Estimate is approximately 20% below the low bid for the project. This difference in costs
is due primarily to variations in costs on the labor intensive manhole adjustment work.
A project increase of $53,000 within the 431-Fund Sewer and $21,920 within the 432-Fund Storm is
necessary, however it will not require a budget adjustment since it is anticipated that the budgeted
expenditures in the Replacement Programs of the 431 and 432 Funds will not be exceeded this year.
