Administrative Recommendation:
City Council conduct a public hearing on Resolution No. 4235 assigning and/or correcting addresses to
the buildings, mainly aircraft hangers, at the Auburn Municipal Airport. (See Item No. VI11.B.1 for further
action on this item.)
Background Summary:
The Building Official has been requested by the Finance Department to assign addresses to each aircraft
hanger building at the airport in order to establish utility accounts for each building. There are several
buildings at the airport that currently have addresses assigned. These buildings will retain their current
addresses. There are also other buildings that are using addresses that have not been assigned or
recognized by the City. This circumstance has potential to create delays with emergency response as
well as confusion for utilities and other service providers.
The City's Address Committee, comprised of representatives from VRFA, Finance, Planning and Public
Works Departments, has reviewed the proposed address assignments and has recommended approval
by the City Council. Due to the multiple ownership of the hanger buildings a public hearing will be
required.
On August 21, 2007, staff presented the proposed changes to the Airport Advisory Board. There were no
objections to the proposal.
ACC 15.52.055 vests the authority for changing addresses with the City Council.
The proposed addresses were presented to and discussed with the Planning & Community Development
Committee on September 10, 2007 and the Municipal Services Committee on September 17, 2007.
