Asphalt Inc. for work on project CP0742, Auburn Way Overlay 4m St SE to 4cn St NE.
Background Summary:
Project Description:
This project will repair and overlay Auburn Way between 4th St NE and 4th St SE. The project is intended
to provide a roadway surface with roughly a 5-year lifespan. The work will include extensive patching and
grinding of the existing roadway surface, followed by the installation of a pavement fabric, pre-leveling,
and 2 inch asphalt overlay.
Change Order Description:
This change order is for the replacement of the two landscaped median islands between Main St and 4m
St SE, additional excavation required for pavement patching, and additional asphalt required for pre-
leveling and patching the roadway. The roadway sections that required patching were significantly larger
than originally anticipated. During construction, it also became apparent that the roadway slope was not
adequate for drainage and the areas of pre-leveling were expanded to span the entire project. The
additional work resulted in additional traffic control costs as well.
A project budget contingency of $168,347 remains in the 102 Arterial Street fund.
