Agenda Subject: Purchase of Golf Carts for Auburn Golf Course Date: March 10, 2008
Department: Parks, Arts and Attachments: Resolution 4325 Budget Impact:
Recreation
Administrative Recommendation:
City Council adopt Resolution 4325.
Background Summary:
The Auburn Golf Course currently has a rental fleet of 46 Power Carts, consisting of the following:
36 2007 Club Car Electric Carts
10 1999-2001 EZ Go - Yamaha Gas Cart
To maximize revenue, and best meet the needs of our customers, it is recommended that the Auburn
Golf Course purchase thirty-six (36) additional Club Car Carts and trade in eight (8) of the older model
gas carts, . The older gas carts are not able to be stored under the new clubhouse; and additionally, they
have reached the end of their useful life.
In 2006 staff performed extensive research on electric golf carts and selected the Club Car Precedent as
the preferred option for the course. In an effort to maintain a standardized fleet for maintenance ease and
customer satisfaction, it is recommended that the new carts be the same Club Car Precedent Model.
Seventy-two (72) total carts (the acquisition of 36) are necessary to provide all golfers on the course with
a cart for tournament play. The Finance Department has reviewed numerous purchase and lease options
and deemed it best to purchase the carts over a four (4) year period.
In 2008, cart rental is estimated to generate $235,000 in revenue with debt payments of $80,000 based
on a fleet of seventy-two (72) carts.
