Background Summary:
King County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has received grant funding from the Department of
Homeland Security for support of Citizen Corps Council activities, including Community Emergency
Response Teams (CERT). The City of Auburn is a supporting partner of the White River Valley Citizen
Corps Council (CCC), along with the cities of Algona and Pacific and the Valley Regional Fire Authority.
Over the past year, more than 100 people have graduated from our local CERT program, sponsored by
these organizations. The current grant will provide money to support the planning and coordination of
CERT refresher training for all of south King County (Zone 3), in coordination with other south King
County agencies.

RESOLUTION NO. 4360
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A GRANT FROM THE KING COUNTY OFFICE OF
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO PROVIDE ZONE 3 CERT
REFRESHER TRAINING, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS
TO ACCEPT SAID FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn is a participating member of the White
River Valley Citizen Corps Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security has designated funds
to assist Citizen Corps Councils in providing programs and has provided King
County with those funds to distribute; and
WHEREAS, Community Emergency Response Teams fall under the
authorized activities of Citizen Corps Council programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn desires to offer refresher training for Zone
3 CERT teams.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Purpose. The City Council of the City of Auburn hereby
accepts a grant from the King County Office of Emergency Management in the
amount of Five Thousand dollars ($5,000.00) to fund Zone 3 CERT refresher
training.

Section 2. Implementation. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is hereby
authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to
carry out the directions of this resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
upon passage and signatures hereon.
