City Council adopt Resolution No. 4372.
Background Summary:
The purpose of the project is to patch sections of three arterial roadways, D Street NE, between 15th and
16th along with 16th Street NE between D Street and E Street (the two streets Commonly Referred to in
their entirety as Airport Road), West Valley Highway, between 11th and 15th NW, and R Street SE,
between 25th Street SE and 37th Way SE (White River Bridge). See the attached Vicinity Maps for
specific project sites. These sites were prioritized based on staff knowledge or records indicating
frequent maintenance by staff. As these roadway sections age, they will exceed the ability for
maintenance staff to address the repairs.
Construction is projected to start in August 2008, and be complete in October 2008.
Because the bid opening will not be held until July 10, 2008, staff is requesting authorization for the
Mayor to award this contract to the Lowest Responsible Bidder, if the bid is within the budget, to avoid
delay of the project and allow construction to take advantage of the summer construction season..
Funding for the project includes $525,000 from the 2007-2008 Budget and $300,000 from the newly
enacted 1% Utility Tax. The utility tax funds were included in Budget Amendment No 14.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF AUBURN AND THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE
BIDDER FOR CONTRACT NUMBER 08-11, PROJECT
NUMBER CP0811, 2008 ARTERIAL PAVEMENT PATCHING
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn has arterial roadways that
need to be repaired to ensure preservation of the long term functionality and
investment in these roadways; and
WHEREAS, a project Bid Opening for the repair of three sections of arterial
roadway is scheduled to take place on July 10, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn Public Works Department will assess the
bids received and identify the Lowest Responsible Bidder following the Bid
Opening; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the parties to enter into an
agreement for construction of CP0811, 2008 Arterial Pavement Patching with all
expediency to take advantage of the summer construction season.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Auburn and the Auburn City Clerk
are hereby authorized to review bids, award, and execute an Agreement between
the City of Auburn and the Lowest Responsible Bidder for Project Number CP0811,

Contract Number 08-14, 2008 Arterial Pavement Patching, which agreement shall
conform with the Bid Documents, provided that the bid amount does not exceed the
budgeted amount.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such
administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this
legislation.
Section 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage
and signatures hereon.
