City Council grant permission to advertise for bids for Project No. CP0760 Auburn Way North Pedestrian
Crossing
Background Summary:
This project will construct a new pedestrian crossing on Auburn Way North near 42nd Street NE with the
following:
1. A pedestrian activated signal to stop traffic;
2. A median island refuge;
3. Crosswalk striping and truncated dome warning strips;
4. Advance warning signage;
5. Lighting; and
6. ITS Camera, fiber cables and vaults, and video detection cameras.
Currently, the total estimated project cost is $336,000, of which $325,000 is from state grant funds. A
project increase of $11,000 may be necessary, but will not require a budget adjustment since budgeted
expenditures in the 102 Fund will not be exceeded this year. The total project cost will be re-evaluated
prior to awarding the project and the final required project budget increase within the 102 Fund will be
determined.
