RESOLUTION NO. 4378
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING
THE AUBURN CITY COUNCIL TO ACCEPT A
BUREAU OF JUSTICE GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON
WHEREAS, the US Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Edward
Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (herein after referred to as JAG) Grant
Program provides funds to units of local government to underwrite projects that
reduce crime and improve public safety. The JAG Grant Program emphasizes
local decision making and encourages communities to craft their own
responses to local crime and drug problems; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Auburn certifies compliance
with applicable civil rights law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has established a "Special Revenue Fund"
by Ordinance No. 4930 for the JAG Grant Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Purpose. The City Council hereby accepts Grant Number
2008-F6561-WA-DJ, in the amount of thirteen thousand six hundred eighty one
dollars and no/100 ($13,681.00) from the U.S. Department of Justice and
authorizes the deposit of said grand funds in the City of Auburn's JAG Grant
"Special Revenue Fund" established for such purpose.

Section 2. The City Council hereby approves the expenditure and
appropriation of thirteen thousand six hundred eighty one dollars and no/100
($13,681.00) from the JAG Program approved by the Bureau of Justice
Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice to reduce
crime and improve public safety through the use of the payment of overtime
costs for officers.
Section 3. The City Council authorizes the Finance Director to
continue the interest bearing "Special Revenue Fund" specifically designated as
"Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program" in which the Bureau of Justice
Assistance will deposit all payments received under this grant award, and
allowable program expenses paid from this account according to U.S.
Department of Justice Grant Award No. 2008-F6561-WA-DJ.
Section 4. Implementation. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is hereby
authorized to implement and enter into any agreements or contracts as may be
necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect and be in full force and
effect upon passage and signatures hereon.
