Administrative Recommendation:
City Council award Contract 08-16, Project No. CP0812, 2008 Citywide Arterial Crack Seal Project, to
Doolittle Construction on their low bid of $72,975.00.
Background Summary:
This project will treat surface cracks in various arterial and collector streets with rubberized asphalt to help
preserve the existing roads. The crack seal treatment is intended to prevent damage to the pavement
base material and to prevent the cracks from expanding. The attached maps show the roadways that will
be treated.
Construction for this project is anticipated to begin in September 2008 and be completed in October 2008,
weather permitting.
The total project cost is estimated to be $83,475. A project increase of $3,475 from the 102 Arterial
Street fund is necessary; however, it will not require a budget adjustment since it is anticipated that the
budgeted expenditures in the 102 fund will not be exceeded this year.
