COMMITTEE
October 28, 2008
MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Lynn Norman called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers
located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA.
Committee Members present were: Chair Lynn Norman, Member Sue Singer and
Member Gene Cerino.
Staff present included: Mayor Pete Lewis, Planning, Building & Community Director
Cindy Baker, Assistant Planning Director Kevin Snyder, Principal Planner Elizabeth
Chamberlain, Public Works Director Dennis Dowdy, Economic Development Manager
Dave Baron, and Permits & Admin Manager Darcie Hanson.
Audience Members present were: Steve Kelly, Ed Hahn, Troy Humphrey and Clark
Kunitsugu.
II. MINUTES
Member Cerino moved to approve the October 14, 2008 minutes as read; Member
Singer seconded.
The minutes were approved as submitted unanimously.
III. City Hall Plaza, Intersection Designs, and Promenade
Director Baker introduced John Nelson with MAUL FOSTER ALONGI of Vancouver, WA
who has worked with staff on some initial concepts for the City Hall Plaza. Mr. Nelson
provided a presentation of multiple ideas for the plaza that included a water feature, re-
facing the terraced steps, pruning the existing vegetation, lighting, and better signage.
Also discussed was the possibility of remodeling the city hall entrance to be more of a
focal point. Staff presented a table listing out the proposed plaza concepts and the
Committee provided staff with direction on what the committee liked and disliked.
IV. INFORMATION
Next meeting will be on November 19, 2008 in the Council Conference Room.
V. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Downtown Redevelopment, Chair
Norman adjourned the meeting at 5:38 p.m.
