Background Summary: The City of Auburn has a continued need to provide disaster education to the public. For the past three years, we have utilized the AmeriCorps VISTA program to coordinate this function and deliver public education. The program provides one full-time volunteer to the City, who receives a living stipend and health insurance through a federal program. The program requires a$5050 local match, however grant funds received under the Emergency Management Performance Grant program are authorized and allocated for use as the match. Purpose. The City Council of the City of Auburn hereby accepts a grant from the Washington Service Corps of one VISTA member, from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010. Section 2. Implementation. The Mayor of the City of Auburn is hereby authorized to implement such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directions of this resolution.
