WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MP,YOR AND CITY CLERK OF THE CITY
4 OF AUBURN TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO CONTRACT FOR
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES BETWEEN THE CITY AND GRAY &
5 OSBORNE, INC. RELATING TO STREET IMPROVEMENT NO. 287.
6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A
7 REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
g Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of
9 Auburn, Washington, are hereby authorized to execute Amendment
10 No. 2 to Contract for Professional Engineering Services
11 between the City and GRAY & OSBORNE, INC. relating to Street
12 Improvement No. 287. Amendment No. 1 was authorized by
13 Resolution No. 2181 dated March 18, 1991. A copy of the
14 pmendment is attached hereto, designated as Exhibit "A" and
. 15 incorporated by reference in this Resolution.
16 gection 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
17 such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
18 out the directives of this legislation.

, PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
Thi~~ A,mendment o. 2 to the„ existing Contrct for Professional Engineering Services, entered into the
~_A-day of 19911, by the City of Auburn, King County, Washington,
hereinafter called the CITY, or OWNER, and Gray & Osborne, Inc., Consulting Engineers, Seattle,
Washington, hereinafter called the ENGINEER.
WITNESSETH: That there now exists between the CITY and the ENGINEER a Contract for
"Professional Engineering Services" for the planning and preparation of Plans, Specifications, and
Contract Documents for the Project described as "Street Improvement #287", which Contract provides
therein for the Engineering Services under Article II, "Objectives and Scope of Work."
WHEREAS: The CITY is desirous to have the ENGINEER perform additional work as provided under
Article XI: Extra Work.
Now, therefore, in consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements herein contained, the parties
hereto mutually agree to as follows:
Those parts of Article II, "Objectives and Scope of Work", as shown on pages 2, 3, and 4 of the original
contract document, and Exhibit A of said March 5, 1990, Contract for Professional Engineering Services
is herewith amended to include the following described additional tasks of work to be accomplished at
the direction of the CITY, together with a method of compensation.
ARTICLE II
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The following is a list of additional services to be furnished by the ENGINEER which will be
augmented by the ENGINEER upon written authorization of the City of Auburn.
1. Prepare new bid documents to include construction drawings and specification to segregate out
the construction of the 24-inch storm drain (comprehensive storm drain) from the road
construction project. Attend meeting with City to discuss the separation of this work (24-inch
storm drain) as a separate bid project. Prepare a separate engineering cost estimate for this
schedule of work.
2. Design and prepare storm drainage revisions for an "overflow/bypass" storm drain pipeline in
and along Academy Drive which connects the new storm line to an existing line approximately
175 feet away. Show on new bid documents (see item 1 above).
3. Revise existing roadway contract documents, to include construction drawings, specification, and
cost estimates, to indicate the construction of the 24-inch storm "by others" and show as
"existing".
4, Prepare new and revised legal description for frontage road easement acquisition.
5. Redesign frontage road (ingress/egrees) to accommodate for new easement revision (see item 4).
Provide new concepts and design for lots fronting SR-164 (south of Academy Drive).
6. Prepare 50 sets of additional project plans and specifications for separating project into two
separate schedules of work.
7. Provide two (2) additional sets of permanent mylars per State Dept. of Transportation request.
8. Authorize our sub-consultant Kittleson and Associates to provide additional traffic analysis and
signalization options in regards to traffic movement at Auburn Way South and Academy Drive.

For services furnished under Article II (as noted above and herein), the total cost of additional
qngineering services for additional engineering services shall not exceed $12,779.58. The fee shall be
computed on an hourly basis being 2.5415 times the payroll cost of the ENGINEER for each of its
employees assigned to the project.
The ENGINEER's direct expenses are defined as the actual out-of-pocket costs to the ENGINEER for
all expenses incurred directly on the project, other than the payroll costs. Such direct expenses shall
include, but not be limited to necessary transportation costs, including mileage at the rate of twenty
four cents ($.24), per mile when the ENGINEER's own automobiles are used, meals and lodging,
laboratory tests and analysis.
