City of Auburn Arts Commission

Meeting Minutes
Commissioners present: Herman Ansingh, Kristen Brock, Nancy Colson, Bonnie Egbert,
Amanda Flannery, Patrick Gallagher, Don Gardner, Steve LePenske, Barbara Sharrard, Pam
Smith
Commissioners absent: Anne Baunach, Linda Elliot (Excused)
Staff present: Laurie Rose, Cultural Arts Manager; Megan Myers, Cultural Arts Specialist
Call to order: Commission Chair Kristen Brock called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m.
I. Approval of September Minutes and Introductions
Ms. Brock called for approval of the October minutes. Commissioner Bonnie Egbert
moved the October minutes be approved. Commissioner Don Gardner seconded the
motion. Motion approved.
Ms. Brock introduced guest speaker Jim McDonald, former Public Art Director, City of
Seattle
Nominating Committee Report
Ms. Brock reported that the candidates for the 2007vice-chair position are Don Gardner
and Linda Elliott. The commission will vote at the December meeting.
III. Public Art Program
Jim McDonald, former Public Art Director, City of Seattle presented on topics concerning
public art as it applies to Auburn's current program. These topics included program
vision, commission and community advocacy, funding models, and program
logistics/maintenance. Discussion followed regarding program assessment and creation
of an annual plan.
IV. Other Business
December Meeting Location
Mr. LePenske will host the Arts Commission Meeting at his private residence in
December.
Photography exhibit reception
Jim Brock, Jan Wieser and John Tolbert will host an artist reception for the final 2006
Auburn City Hall Gallery show. This event will take place December 1, from 4:30-6:00
p.m. Commissioners are encouraged to attend.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
