CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
MEETING MINUTES OF JUNE 10TM, 2003
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held June 10th, 2003, in
Conference Room #2. The members in attendance were as follows:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Cyril Van Selus; Acting Chairman; Charles A. Booth, Member,
Yvonne Yaskus, Secretary/Chief Examiner
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Assistant Fire Chief Russ Vandver
Acting Chairman Van Selus called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m.
ACTION:
Approval of Minutes of May 13th, 2003 Civil Service meeting
The minutes were accepted as recorded.
COMMISSION
No new business.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
An Entry Level Fire recruitment is underway. The application process opened on Friday, June
6th, 2003, with 500 applications being distributed by 9:10 a.m. The written test will take place
on June 28th at Auburn Riverside High School. Of those taking the test, the top 40 will be
granted an oral interview; the oral boards are scheduled for the third week of July, and an
eligibility list will be produced from those results.
There has not been a shortage of interested applicants for Firefighter positions, as evident by
how quickly the applications for this recruitment were distributed.
ACTION:
None taken.
AUBURN, MOKE THAN YOU IMAGINED
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Lateral Entry Police testing was conducted on June 2, 2003. Of those testing, one applicant is
now #1 on the eligibility list, and a conditional offer of employment has been extended to him.
ACTION:
None taken.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:48 p.m.
