CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
MEETING MINUTES OF JULY 8TM, 2003
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held July 8th, 2003, in
Conference Room #2. The members in attendance were as follows:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Cyril Van Selus, Member; Charles A.
Booth, Member, Yvonne Yaskus, Secretary/Chief Examiner
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Fire Chief Bob Johnson; Assistant Fire Chief
Russ Vandver
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
ACTION:
Approval of Minutes of June 10th, 2003 Civil Service meeting
The minutes were accepted as recorded.
COMMISSION
No new business.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Civil Service Examiner Yaskus reported on the recent Entry Level Fire written exam given on
June 28, 2003. A total of 500 applications were distributed, with 380 of those being
completed and received in the Civil Service office by the deadline; 333 applicants actually
took the test. When the results are received, the top 40 candidates will be scheduled for an
oral board later in July.
ACTION:
POLICE DEPARTMENT
AUBURN, MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED
A discussion on the extension of the Police Sergeant and Commander eligibility lists ensued.
These lists were set to expire on August 1, 2003 and August 15, 2003, respectively. A motion
was made to extend the lists, provided that such is not inconsistent with Civil Service Rules.
ACTION:
Extension of the current Police Sergeant eligibility list through August 1, 2004.
The motion was made and carried.
Extension of the current Police Commander .eligibility list through August 15, 2004.
The motion was made and carried.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:36 p.m.
