CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
MEETING MINUTES OF JANUARY 13, 2004
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held January 13, 2004,
in Conference Room 2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street,
Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Cyril Van Selus, Member; Yvonne
Yaskus, Secretary/Chief Examiner.
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Bob Lee, Assistant Police Chief, Interim Fire
Chief Russ Vandver, Joe Beck, Associate City Attorney, Marilyn Beeksma, HR Assistant.
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
ACTION:
Approval of December 9, 2003, Civil Service meeting minutes.
Minutes were accepted as written.
COMMISSION
Secretary/Chief Examiner Yvonne Yaskus resigned her position effective January 23,
2004. Marilyn Beeksma will be interim Civil Service Secretary.
The examiner discussed status of eligibility lists for Police and Fire.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
After a brief discussion of the entry level police eligibility list a motion was made and
carried to conduct oral boards for the next 20 interested applicants.
Officer Andy Gould is on active duty in the military, Officer Todd Byers will be
returning from the Academy March 1, 2004 and Jim Ferrell is out with a back injury.

FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire Chief Vandver reminded everyone of Chief Johnson's retirement party. Chief
Johnson retired after 21 years of service wi.th the Auburn Fire Department.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at
3:45 p.m.
