CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of February 8, 2005
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held February 8,
2005, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chuck Booth, Member; Cyril Van Selus, Member; Gail Solberg,
Secretary/Chief Examiner
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Fire Chief Russ Vandver; Assistant City
Attorney Joe Beck
GUESTS: none
ACTION:
Cyril Van Selus moved that Chuck Booth fill in as chairman of the meeting in Dick
Kammeyer's absence.
Chuck Booth called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.
Approval of January 11, 2005 Civil Service meeting minutes.
Minutes were accepted as written.
COMMISSION
A change was noted on the original agenda. The appeal originally scheduled for this
meeting has been withdrawn by lateral Police candidate Ed Pereria who has rescinded
his appeal to the Civil Service Commission.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
We have 1 Police Officer position open. There are currently 2 entry-level Police
candidates in the testing process; 1 will complete testing on February 11 th and the other
is still in the initial testing process. We currently have no lateral Police candidates.
The Commanders test is scheduled for April 8th. It was posted on February 8th and will
remain posted for a minimum of 30 days.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Battalions Chief test is scheduled for April 28th and 29th. The test has not been
posted yet, but dates and the location have been reserved.
Chief Vandver gave an update with the 2 fire fighters in the academy; 1 is second
academically and the other candidate is doing well; both are strong candidates.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
