Lewis, Mayor 25 West Main Street * Aubum WA 98001-4998 * www.cl.aubum.wa.us * 253-931-3000 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Meeting Minutes of March 8, 2005 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held March 8, 2005, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance. MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Cyril Van Selus, Member; Gail Solberg, Secretary/Chief Examiner STAFF PRESENT: Assistant Police Chief Bob Lee; Fire Marshall Dave Smith; Assistant City Attorney Joe Beck GUESTS: none ACTION: Dick Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. Approval of February 8, 2005 Civil Service meeting minutes. Minutes were accepted as written. COMMISSION POLICE DEPARTMENT The Commanders eligibility test is scheduled for April 8th. It is currently posted and will be posted through Friday of this week. We have assessors identified and the test elements complete. We anticipate 3-4 participants in the testing process. The exam will be conducted at City Hall. We are currently at full staff with commissioned police. We have one new hire currently in the academy and is performing well; another new hire is scheduled for the April academy. FIRE DEPARTMENT The Battalion Chiefs eligibility test is scheduled for April 28th. It will consist of 3 test elements and the announcement will be posted this week. We are requesting 9 assessors from surrounding city fire departments. We anticipate 7-8 participants in the testing process. The exam will be conducted at Grace Community Church. The Fire Department awards banquet was on March 4th, Gary Barker received Firefighter of the year. AUBURN '" MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED APPEALS: We received a request for an appeal from a lateral police candidate. The Commission agreed to set the appeal for a hearing during the next scheduled Civil Service meeting. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m. cc: Commission Members Mayor Peter B.
