COMMISSION
POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Commander eligibility test was conducted on April 8th. We had three participants
and all three passed. The candidates voluntarily waived the five-day waiting period by
presenting a signed waiver to Civil Service; therefore the official list was posted on April
8th. This list is good for one year with the possibility of extending an additional year.
Chief Kelly raised the issue of the Civil Service rule allowing entry-level applicants the
appeal process. He requested the Commission examine whether or not it's a state
requirement to allow the appeal process to external candidates (entry and lateral). Dick
Kammeyer asked Gail to contact the Civil Service Attorney, Dejulio to receive clarity on
the state requirements.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Chief Vandver reported that the 2 new fire recruits have graduated from the Bates Fire
Academy and are currently working at Station 31 as well as attending EMT school.
They anticipate assigning them to a shift within the next two weeks.
