CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of May 10, 2005
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held April 12,
2005, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Cyril Van Selus, Member; Charles Booth, Member; Gail
Solberg, Secretary/Chief Examiner
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Assistant Fire Chief Mike Gerber; Assistant
City Attorney Joe Beck
GUESTS: none
ACTION:
Chuck Booth called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.
Approval of April 12, 2005 Civil Service meeting minutes.
Minutes were accepted as written.
COMMISSION
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Effective May 151 Sergeant Wood was promoted to Commander and Officer Colglazier
was promoted to Sergeant.
Chief Kelly thanked the Commission for conducting research verifying that entry and
lateral candidates have the right to the appeal process under the Civil Service rules.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Assistant Chief Gerber reported we had 7 candidates participate in the Battalion Chiefs
test with 6 passing. The test was administered through a fair and equitable process
with excellent candidates establishing the new promotion eligibility list.
Preliminary discussions will begin soon on planning the Entry Level Fire testing
process; the current entry-level list expires in August 2005.
