CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of October 11, 2005
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held October 11,
2005, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance. _
- MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer; Chairman; Charles Booth, Member; Cyril Van
Selus, Member; Gail Solberg, Secretary/Chief Examiner
STAFF PRESENT: Police Chief Jim Kelly; Assistant Fire Chief Mike Gerber
GUESTS: none
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
Approval of September 13, 2005 Civil Service meeting minutes.
Minutes were accepted as written.
COMMISSION
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Kelly reported that there are 7 candidates for the Sergeants test scheduled for
Tuesday, October 25,2005. At this time there are no openings for Sergeants.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Gail Solberg reported that testing for the entry level fire fighter list is open for
recruitment. Applications were available starting 7:00 am on Friday, October ih and we
distributed the maximum of 500 within three and a half hours. The position closes on
Friday, October 21st The written test is scheduled for Saturday October 29th at
Riverside High School with two testing times. We expect to have 300+ turn in
applications to take the written test. We will establish interview dates and times once
we've identified the top 40 candidates from the written test. AlC Gerber reported that
we anticipate possible firefighter openings at the beginning of next year.
AlC Gerber also reported that we will need to start looking at the process of re-
establishing a list for Fire Marshal for the beginning of next year. We need to have the
list established prior to the end of Q 1, 2006.
