COMMISSION
Gail Solberg presented the edited Civil Service Commission Rules that only include
Police Department commissioned positions and also remove Rule 19 certifying salary
accounts since it is a CBA topic (not Civil Service). Booth motioned to accept the Rules

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Gail Solberg reported that we are continuing with the open application process for entry
and lateral candidates. Last month we had 29 candidates participate in the written
exam and 22 of those candidates passed. Oral boards for the 22 candidates will be
held at the end of this month. Solberg reported that we are fully staffed with our Police
hiring and have hired 1 of the supernumerary positions. We have 9 entry-level
candidates in the background process and 2 lateral candidates in the background
process.
Solberg reported that currently the Non-Commissioned employees (not covered under
Civil Service) are taking to a vote whether or not they want to be part of Civil Service.
We should have results of the vote by the end of this month. If they vote to be part of
Civil Service we will need to revise the current Rules to incorporate the Non-
commissioned positions.
