Lewis, Mayor 25 West Main Street * Auburn WA 98001-4998 * www.auburnwa.gov * 253-931-3000 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Meeting Minutes of June 12, 2007 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held June 12, 2007, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance. MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Member; Chuck Booth, Member STAFF PRESENT: Assistant City Attorney, Joe Beck; Sarah Borden, Civil Service Examiner; Bob Lee, Deputy Police Chief; ACTION: Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:41 p.m. Approval of May 8, 2007 Civil Service meeting minutes. Minutes were accepted as written. Booth moved to accept Minutes and Kammeyer seconded. COMMISSION Sarah Borden presented the new Entry Level Police Officer Civil- Service List which integrated the results of the previous oral board from May 25th, 2007. Booth motioned to accept and Kammeyer seconded. Sarah Borden then presented the names of six entry level police candidates for removal from the standing list; four candidates were disqualified during the background process and two were disqualified for no response. Sarah Borden addressed that Michael Gallatin had been removed from the entry level police list during the background process. After reviewing his appeal with further information and reconsideration he was reinstated back on the list as #11. Booth motioned to accept and Kammeyer seconded. Sarah Borden then presented the name of the new Lateral Police Office on the Civil Service List. Booth motioned to accept and Kammeyer seconded. Sarah presented the updated civil service rules that added the non-commissioned officers to the civil service and some new language. Booth motioned to accept and Kammeyer seconded. A hearing was conducted with Patrick Sagdahl regarding his removal from the entry level police officer list. All witnesses were sworn in prior to the start of the hearing. Lewis, Mayor WASHINGTON 25 West Main Street * Auburn WA 98001-4998 * www.auburnwa.gov * 253-931-3000 City indicated the cumulative reasons why Patrick Sagdahl was removed from the list and Bob Lee presented specific information from the background testing that led to the decision. Mr. Sagdahl presented his response to the reasons given and provided additional information and explanations as to his reason for appeal. After a thorough review of all the facts presented by the grievant the decision remains to remove Patrick Sagdahl from the entry level police officer list. Booth made the motion, Kammeyer seconded. POLICE DEPARTMENT Sarah Borden reported that we are continuing with the open application process for entry and lateral candidates. Written test will be .held on June 26 h, 2007 and the oral boards will be held on June 15th, 2007. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m. Booth adjourned and Kammeyer seconded. cc: Commission Members Mayor Peter B.
