CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of April 8, 2008
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held April 8,
2008, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Chuck Booth, Member.
STAFF PRESENT: Joseph Beck, Assistant City Attorney; Sarah Borden, Civil Service
Examiner; Jim Kelly, Police Chief.
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:37 p.m.
Approval of the March 11, 2008 Civil Service meeting minutes.
• Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Booth, Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Entry Level Police Officer Civil Service List which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from March 27, 2008.
• Entry list was adopted as published. Motion by Booth, Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Lateral Police Officer Civil Service List which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from March 27, 2008.
• Lateral list adopted as published. Motion by Booth, Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the Parking Control Attendant list which integrated the results
of the previous oral board from March 12, 2008.
• Parking Control Attendant list adopted as published. Motion by Booth,
Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the Commander's Promotional List from the promotional exam
on March 21, 2008.
• Commander's promotional list adopted as published. Motion by Booth,
Kammeyer seconded.

The appeal submitted by Ryan Rivers regarding his removal from the lateral level police
officer eligibility list was discussed.
The city indicated the cumulative reasons why Ryan Rivers was removed from the
lateral level police officer eligibility list. Sarah Borden presented specific information
from the background process that led to the decision. After a thorough review of the
facts presented by the grievant in his written appeal the decision was made to deny a
hearing to Ryan Rivers regarding his removal from Lateral Police Officer eligibility list.
Motioned by Booth, Kammeyer seconded.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sarah Borden presented the next written exam test date for entry level police as well as
the next scheduled oral boards for entry police, lateral police, and parking control
attendants.
Sarah Borden presented the number of conditional offers out to entry level police,
lateral police officers, and Parking Control Attendant candidates.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
adjourned at 3:52 p.m.
