CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of May 13, 2008
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held May 13,
2008, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Cyril Van Selus, Member.
STAFF PRESENT: Sarah Borden, Civil Service Examiner; Jim Kelly, Police Chief; and
John Fletcher, Employee Relations/Compensation Manager.
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.
Approval of the April 8, 2008 Civil Service meeting minutes.
• Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Van Selus, Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Entry Level Police Officer Civil Service List which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from April 24, 2008.
• Entry list was adopted as published. Motion by Van Selus, Kammeyer
seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Lateral Level Police Officer Civil Service List which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from April 23, 2008.
• Lateral list adopted as published. Motion by Van Selus, Kammeyer seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the Parking Control Attendant list which integrated the results
of the previous oral board from April 25, 2008.
• Parking Control Attendant list adopted as published. Motion by Van Selus,
Kammeyer seconded.

Approval of updated changes to Assistant Police Chief job description Spec 21.06.
Motion for approval by Van Selus, seconded by Kammeyer.
John Fletcher presented the recommended changes to the Parking Control Attendant
job description. The minimum qualification will read, WS diploma or equivalent and 9
year of full time related experience OR a combination of education, experience, and
training that would indicate the ability to successfully complete the above listed
essential functions of the job." Motion for approval by Van Selus, Kammeyer
seconded.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sarah Borden presented the next written exam test date for entry level police as well as
the next scheduled oral boards for entry police, lateral police, and parking control
attendants.
Sarah Borden presented the number of conditional offers out to entry level police,
lateral police officers, and Parking Control Attendant candidates.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
adjourned at 3:42 p.m.
