Meeting Minutes of July 8, 2008
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held July 8,
2008, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Cyril Van Selus, Member; Chuck
Booth, Member.
STAFF PRESENT: Sarah Borden, Civil Service Examiner; Jim Kelly, Police Chief;
Stephen King, Assistant City Attorney; and Terry Mendoza, Human Resource Assistant.
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m.
Approval of the June 10, 2008 Civil Service meeting minutes.
• Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Booth, Van Selus seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Entry Level Police Officer Civil Service Eligibility List
which integrated the results of the previous oral boards from June 12 and 13, 2008.
• Entry list was adopted as published. Motion by Kammeyer, Van Selus
seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the new Lateral Level Police Officer Civil Service Eligibility List
which integrated the results of the previous oral boards from June 12 and 13, 2008.
• Lateral list adopted as published. Motion by Kammeyer, Booth seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the Parking Control Attendant Civil Service Eligibility list which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from June 10, 2008.
• Parking Control Attendant list adopted as published. Motion by Booth, Van
Selus seconded.
Sarah Borden presented the Police Services Specialist Civil Service Eligibility list which
integrated the results of the previous oral board from June 25, 2008.
• Police Services Specialist list adopted as published. Motion by Kammeyer, Van
Selus seconded.
Sarah Borden introduced Terry Mendoza, HR Assistant, for the appointment as Civil
Service Examiner Pro Tem.
• Commission accepted the appointment. Motion by Kammeyer, Booth seconded.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sarah Borden presented the next written exam test date for entry level police as well as
the next scheduled oral boards for entry and lateral police officers.
Sarah Borden presented the written exam test date for correctional officer.
Sarah Borden presented the next scheduled oral boards for parking control attendant.
Sarah Borden presented the number of conditional offers out to entry level police,
lateral police officers, parking control attendant and police services specialist
candidates.
Police Chief Jim Kelly reported that a sergeant has retired effective July 1, 2008. A new
patrol sergeant has been named and will start his new duties effective August 18, 2008.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
adjourned at 3:41 p.m.
