SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING Meeting Minutes of November 12, 2008 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held November 12, 2008, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance. MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Chuck Booth, Member, Cyril Van Selus, Member. STAFF PRESENT: Terry Mendoza, Civil Service Examiner Pro Tem; Jim Kelly, Police Chief; and Steven Gross, Assistant City Attorney. ACTION: Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m. Approval of the October 14, 2008 Civil Service meeting minutes. • Minutes were accepted as written. Motion by Van Selus, Booth seconded. Terry Mendoza presented the updated Entry Level Police Officer Civil Service Eligibility List. • Entry list was adopted as published. Motion by Booth, Van Selus seconded. Terry Mendoza presented the updated Lateral Level Police Officer Civil Service Eligibility List. • Lateral list adopted as published. Motion by Booth, Van Selus seconded. Terry Mendoza provided information on the removal of two names from the Entry Level Correctional Officer Civil Service Eligibility List. POLICE DEPARTMENT: Terry Mendoza presented the next written exam test date for entry level police. Terry Mendoza presented the next written exam test date for correctional officer. Terry Mendoza presented the number of conditional offers out to entry level police, lateral level police, and police services specialist candidates. Lewis, Mayor 25 West Main Street * Auburn WA 98001-4998 * www.auburnwa.gov * 253-931-3000 Terry Mendoza provided information on an appeal received from Steven Korossy, Lateral Level Police officer candidate. Due to the fact that the deadline to submit an appeal had expired prior to the receipt of Mr. Korossy's letter of appeal, the appeal has been denied. Terry Mendoza provided information to the Commission regarding the current Sergeant's list. The list will expire January 18, 2009 and it is being recommended not to extend the list. According to Chief Jim Kelly there are approximately forty five (45) officers now eligible to take the exam. The police department requested the Commission's authorization to start a new recruitment for Sergeant. The Commission approved the request to move forward with the new Sergeant's Promotional Exam in January 2009. Motion by Booth, Van Selus seconded. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting adjourned at 3:44 p.m. cc: Commission Members Mayor Peter B.
