CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of January 10, 2006
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held January 10,
2006, in Resource Room #2 located on the second floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West
Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Kammeyer, Chairman; Charles Booth, Member; Cyril Van
Selus, Member
STAFF PRESENT: Chief of Public Safety Jim Kelly; Deputy Fire Chief Mike Gerber;
Joe Beck, Assistant City Attorney; HR Assistant Marilyn Beeksma
GUESTS: none
ACTION:
Chairman Kammeyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
Approval of December 13, 2005 Civil Service meeting minutes.
Minutes were accepted as written.
COMMISSION
Cyril Van Selus nominated Dick Kammeyer to be Civil Service Chairman for 2006,
Chuck Booth seconded the motion.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Kelly reported that the oral boards for entry level police are being conducted
January 9, 10, and 11, 2006. He also reported that we are in the initial discussions of
developing an Assistant Police test; we have a total of 5 candidates who are eligible to
participate.
Officer Rottweiler and Steineman are graduating from the Academy today. Officer
Rottweiler finished #1 in his class and Officer Steineman was also at the top of the
class. Next steps for both will be their field training program.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Mike Gerber reported that we are in the initial stages of preparing for a Fire Marshal
exam currently reviewing the job description; he anticipates 3-5 participants in the
exam. Gerber also reported that a Firefighter Bob Kiley announced he will be retiring.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
adjourned at 3:40 p.m.
