CALL TO ORDER Chair Lynn Norman called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Conference Room located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA. Committee Members present were: Chair Lynn Norman, Member Sue Singer and Member Gene Cerino. Also present were: Mayor Pete Lewis, Planning, Building & Community Director Cindy Baker, Public Works Assistant Director Dennis Selle, Principal Planner Elizabeth Chamberlain, Economic Development Manager Dave Baron, Planning Secretary Renee Tobias, Spencer Alpert and Troy Humphrey. Audience members present were: Bruce Alverson, Edward Hahn, James Halverson Ronnie Roberts, and Robert Whale. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Member Singer submitted three amendments for the June 10, 2008 minutes. Under Urban Center Master Plan, bulleted items should read as follows: o Revitalize Main Street by connecting side streets through walkways. o Pocket parks that are connected to a Sculpture Garden at the Transit Center. Member Singer spoke to Sound Transit about replacing rose bushes with grass. o Revise building height to maximum of 6 stories for the 4-mega blocks. Spencer Alpert submitted one amendment under Alpert Update to read: o Rectangle shaped buildings incorporate a pedestrian pass through and still maintain a logical residential and commercial floor layout. Member Singer moved to approve the June 10, 2008 minutes with amendments; Member Gene Cerino seconded. The minutes were approved as amended unanimously 3-0. III. DISCUSSION • Review photos taken during Pearl District Tour Principal Planner Elizabeth Chamberlain reviewed photographs that were taken during the June 25, 2008 tour of Portland's Pearl District, South Water Front, and Mississippi Avenue. Page 1 Downtown Redevelopment Committee Minutes July 8, 2008 • Auburn Junction Project Ms. Chamberlain provided an overview of the Auburn Junction Design Guidelines. The guidelines are structured with project goals relating to sustainability and connections, specific standards for the 4-block redevelopment, and the adopted downtown design guidelines as an exhibit. The Committee will provide feedback to staff by July 15, 2008 on the draft Auburn Junction design guidelines. Member Singer presented a drawing idea for the redevelopment of the City Hall Plaza. Multimedia is working on an electronic image of the drawing that will be provided to the City Council when complete. IV. INFORMATION Next meeting will be on July 22, 2008 in the Council Conference Room. V.
