PRESENT: Mayor Booth; Councilmembers Borden, Poe, and Wagner; City of Auburn
Staff: Marion Dukes, Police; Bob Johnson, Fire; Christine Engler and Sharon Conroy,
Public Works; Lee Hall and Julie Salzman, Finance; Dick Deal, Parks; Arnie Galli,
Cemetery; Mike Reynolds, Legal; Paul Krauss, Planning; Dennis Dowdy, Engineering;
Citizens Bill Peloza, and Heidi Wood; Lon Hurd, AT&T Cable; Jennifer Krebs, Puget
Sound Access; Laura Moser, Jerry Hardebeck and Dan Bridges, Waste Management;
Jeff Brown, Sound Resource Management.
Minutes of the meeting were tape recorded and are available for review for one (1) year
from the date of the meeting. P/ease submit items for the agenda no later than 5 p.m.
the Wednesday prior to a meeting so packets can be assembled and distributed
Thursday afternoon.
Call to Order
Fred Poe, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meetings were approved as written.
Consent and Agenda
Resolution 3362: Solid Waste Contract. After lengthy discussion, resolution was
tabled until the next meeting.
Resolution 3280: New South Fire Station. After a brief discussion, it was requested
that Paul Krauss document the scope of the phases and get the information to the
mayor and committee members. This resolution will be on the agenda for the next
Municipal Services Committee meeting.
Memo Reference Surplus, Police Department: Marion Dukes asked that the council
approve the surplus of chair ID 021-120). Moved to pass, seconded, and approved.
Ordinance 5535, Agreement with AT&T to Provide a Public Access Facility:
Dennis Dowdy introduced Lon Hurd, who in turn introduced Jennifer Krebs. After
discussion, questions and answers, the committee moved to pass, seconded, and
approved this ordinance.
Ordinance 5536, Agreement with Puget Sound Access to Provide a Public Access
Facility. Mr. Hurd and Ms. Krebs addressed this ordinance, which is closely related to
Ordinance 5535. Moved to pass, seconded, and approved.

Information/Discussion
Update on Mountain View Cemetery: Dick Deal opened the discussion and
introduced Arnie Galli, who showed slides illustrating various aspects of the cemetery
operation. A handout graphing pertinent data was distributed.
AT&T Cable Rate Increase: Lon Hurd pointed out that the increase for Auburn is less
than for non-regulated areas. He answered several questions posed by the group.
After discussion, there was no objection to the proposed rate increase by members of
the committee.
Adjournment
Chairperson Fred Poe adjourned the meeting at 6:40 p.m.
Next regular meeting is Monday, July 2, 2001, at 5:00 PM in Meeting Room 3.
